The computer controlled ‘Automatic Chef’ cooks itself by following downloadable recipe instructions and introducing ingredients at pre-determined intervals while controlling temperature. Intellectual Property protection has been secured via an international PCT application. Funding is sought to develop the automated prototype as a pre-production model which can be showcased not only at new product trade shows such as The Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt and Autumn Fair International in Birmingham but also to prospective licensees such as Kenwood and Philips and to continue to extend patent cover from information derived from three years of research and development work. Real-Status’ product HyperGlance uses computer games software technology to create a real-time 3D model of a large company’s entire ICT infrastructure showing the inter-dependencies. However, companies already spend $1.3 billion on “dashboard and analysis software”, and 75% are not satisfied with their end-end IT management. HyperGlance allows CTOs to navigate through their networks and base key IT management decisions on up-to-date information. The Company completed customer testing in Q2, has started winning end customers and resellers, and Citrix and Oracle are already valuating HyperGlance.

Company Snapshot:		ATI’s AirSteril range of products eliminates odours and controls infections created by bacteria, viruses, mould, fungi etc carried in the air. It employs a proprietary process which emits UV light on two wavelengths: one creating ozone, the other converting it into Hydroxyl Radicals. This has been proved in tests at Porton Down to kill up to 98.8% of harmful pathogens in the air and on surfaces. The products are jointly developed with ATI Hong Kong and manufactured in China. They are installed principally in washrooms, and there are installations in prime sites such as the O2 Arena, Heathrow & Stansted Airports, Manchester United, Brent Cross, Barclays’ HQ and Selfridges. They are supplied by washroom service companies such as Rentokil Initial and PHS. Air purification currently relies mostly on fragrances involving the use of chemicals, many of which will be banned under the new EU Reach agreement. This will open the market further for the eco-friendly AirSteril solution.

Company Snapshot:		Over the last five years the team at PINoptic has developed the next level effective authentication software to control access to sensitive information regardless of its location. The plethora of major security breaches incurred by the likes of Sony, the IMF and the CIA clearly demonstrate the current security methods are not working. A problem of unprecedented scale exists that incurs huge financial costs not to mention the threat to livelihoods and indeed lives. PINoptic has developed a method of authenticating users that is based on a combination of personal symbols, possession of a known mobile phone, and, uniquely, the location from which access is being requested. This “location based security” solution has been built by PINoptic and the team is engaging interest from prospective clients, the first of which is expected to sign up before the summer. Over the last five years £600,000 has been invested. The technology is developed and the products are at production standard.

Company Snapshot:		The ToxiMet system is a disruptive IP protected technology with an initial application for measuring the level of potentially lethal and carcinogenic mycotoxins in food throughout the global supply chain. Importantly, the ToxiMet system has potential to be a platform technology with applications in other sectors of food safety, food quality and medical applications. ToxiMet answers the need for a rapid, simple, reliable, accurate and affordable method to enable companies to test the safety of food in order to meet regulatory requirements, a market worth $8bn/yr. A recent series of successful customer trials has confirmed the system’s robustness and accuracy with glowing testimonials from the customers involved. The Company has a strong, investing management, including the founder Professor Ray Coker, a world expert in mycotoxins and food safety with 30 years expertise in the field. Company Snapshot:		Workbooks was founded in 2008 by a team of four who previously built BlackSpider Technologies (web-based e-mail and internet security services) and sold it for US$40m. Workbooks offers integrated enterprise software ‘in the cloud’ that enables SMEs to manage customer and supplier relationships, including all associated order management, invoicing and fulfilment. There is no comparable UK-based company offering such a service to SMEs in this fragmented market. Workbooks has raised £4m of funding to date, including £1.5m internally, to build its technical platform and applications suite and launch sales. It already has over 80 client organisations and a growing pipeline of sales leads. Existing shareholders and management have pledged c £1m of the £1.5m now sought for sales expansion and development of new applications. A further fund-raising then (probably VC) will back international expansion, with the company aiming for sales of over £40m and a trade-sale valuation of > £200m.

TenBu Technologies prevents the loss or theft of valuable items by wirelessly chaining them to your smartphone using nioTM. nioTM (patent pending) security tags can be attached to almost any valuable item, from keys and bags to children. Both the security tag and smartphone alarm if the wireless chain is broken. Users can tag multiple devices in parallel.TenBu forecast 550k unit sales within 3 years, representing <0.1% of the projected smartphone market next year. Since August 2010, TenBu have sold 2,200 units via 7 wholesalers with repeat orders secured. TenBu has set up a Far Eastern supply chain to provide cost efficiency.The management team includes members with electrical PhDs. The founder CEO has successfully exited entrepreneurial ventures. The team will expand sales to 3-yr revenues of £6.8m and EBITDA of £1.5m. A trade sale or IPO exit is planned in 2013.

Company Snapshot:		Atlantic Healthcare has the worldwide exclusive rights to market a unique drug (alicaforsen) for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), a growing $2b global market. Developed by a leading US drug research company, $75m has been spent on development and validation. Having secured £3.5m of investment to date, revenues will commence in December and Atlantic now seek the remaining £1m of this £2m funding round to expand into other European countries. Atlantic specialise in the commercialisation of hospital drugs that fall below a commercial threshold of ‘big pharma’. The management team has 80 man-years of healthcare experience and has successfully launched and acquired more than 40 drugs. Alicaforsen is more economical and a less invasive treatment than surgery. Compelling benefits together with the unmet clinical need has led to requests from all of the hospitals initially contacted that could lead to 50% of the requirement to reach breakeven. Atlantic project year 3 revenues of £13m and EBITDA of £7m. Planned peak sales of £200m pa can expect to result in an exit valuation between£400m-£600m.
